
Health Research Art Competition
1. Agreement to rules
By entering the competition you agree to the rules outlined below.
2. Entry Fee
The competition is free to enter.
3. Eligibility
Any student at school in Leicestershire and Rutland, or any adult currently undergoing art therapy.
4. How to enter
Just enter your details using the online form and upload a mobile phone photo of your work providing a title and if you are happy to do so a description of your art. The submissions portal can be found on the main page.
Judging will therefore be based on the photographs of the art work only. The original piece of art should not be submitted.
5. Competition Categories
Each year group from 7 to 13 will have its own section.
6. Painting/Drawing
Submissions must be in watercolour, pencil, acrylic or pastels
7. Entry limit
Each participant may submit only one entry.
8. Theme
Health research - Painting a brighter future. The judges will be encouraged to apply a liberal interpretation!
9. Submission Format
Entries must be submitted via the competition entry portal.
The digitally submitted entries should be have been taken on a mobile phone thereby ensuring that format is JPEG with less than 5MB file size.
10. Submission Deadline
All artworks must be received by March 31th. Unfortunately late submissions cannot be judged.
11. Originality
All artwork must be original. Help from teachers and the use of aids and equipment designed to enhance day to day living is allowed. Reproductions or copies of other’s work are not permitted.​
12. Judging Panel
A panel of judges will be selected by the organisers to evaluate the artwork based on criteria such as creativity, originality, technique, and adherence to the theme. A list of judges will be posted on the competition web site prior to the commencement of the judging process. The judges will be drawn from a cross section of the community interested in art and health research. The voting will be on the basis of one person one vote with the Competition Director having the casting vote in the event of a tie. The decision of the judges will be final.
13. Prizes
A full list of prizes will be advertised prior to the closing entry date on the website but will include tickets to local sports and entertainment venues as well as Amazon vouchers.
14. Sponsorship
The competition is likely to attract interest from external organisations and sponsorship will be accepted at the organisers’ discretion provided that the sponsors brand and commercial interests are compatible with the competition’s ethos.
15. Notification
Each participating school will be asked to nominate a member of staff who will be notified by email of the competition results. An official announcement will also be made on the competition website and through social media. Should a school or student prefer anonymity this will be respected.
16. Copyright
Students and schools will retain all rights to their artwork but grant the competition organisers the right to use images of the artwork for promotional and display purposes.
17. Public Display
Selected artworks may be displayed in galleries, exhibitions, or online as part of the competition's promotion.
18. Liability
The organisers unfortunately cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage howsoever arising.
19. Disqualification
Entries may be disqualified for failure to adhere to any of the competition rules. This would, of course, be as a last resort.
20. Changes to Rules
The organisers reserve the right to amend the rules and guidelines at any time. School representatives will be notified of any changes in a timely manner by email.
21. Interpretation
The Competition Director will be the sole arbiter of any dispute, interpretation or implementation.
22. Data Protection
Personal details will not be shared with any third party. Information will be retained only for the purpose of acknowledging entries, answering enquiries and notifying of the competition results and any further competition. It will not be used for any commercial purpose.
